Solar + roofing

If your roof is older, do both at once.

One crew, one contract, one warranty. Re-roof and install solar on the same timeline — or remove existing panels, replace your roof, and reinstall. We have done it thousands of times across CT, MA, and RI.

By the numbers

  • Combined timeline 5 – 10 wks
  • On-roof time 4 – 8 days
  • Roof warranty 25 – 50 yr
  • One contract Yes
Why bundle

Four reasons bundling beats two separate projects.

The bundling case is mostly about lifetime cost and warranty clarity, not sticker price. Most homeowners come out ahead by 5 – 10 years.

One contractor, one warranty

When the roof and the solar are installed by the same crew, there is no warranty fight when something leaks. We own both lines.

Fewer disruptions

Two projects squeezed into one timeline. One permit window, one set of dumpsters, one round of roof access — not two over five years.

Lower lifetime cost

Removing and reinstalling panels later (when the roof finally fails) typically costs $4,000 – $8,000. Bundling skips that bill entirely.

Single permit set

One coordinated permit application for the roof, the solar, and any electrical upgrades. Our office knows every CT, MA, and RI town we work in.

Three paths

The bundle scenarios we run.

Pick the scenario that matches where your roof and solar are today. We design the project around it — not around our favorite sequence.

New roof + new solar (one project)

Roof tear-off, deck repair as needed, new asphalt shingle, then solar mount, panels, and electrical — sequenced as one project. 5 – 10 weeks total.

Existing solar + roof replacement

Safe panel removal, full roof replacement, panel reinstall, recommissioning. We have done this 1,000+ times. 3 – 6 weeks on-site sequence.

Roof-only with solar-ready prep

Replace your roof now, prep for solar later. We install hidden flashing and conduit chases so the future solar add-on is one trip, not three.

A typical bundled project

What a 5 – 10 week bundle actually looks like.

Asphalt shingle is the default roof material. Solar runs 8 – 12 kW on most homes we bundle. Specifics vary; these are central tendencies.

    Standard. Other materials case-by-case.

  • Roof warranty

Design

A 15-minute call, then a remote or on-site visit. Aurora-based design, panel and battery brand named on the proposal.

Build
02.

Build

Permits filed, utility interconnection submitted, and equipment staged at our Bristol warehouse.

Install
03.

Install

Local crew, local trucks. Most homes finished in 2 – 3 days. Final inspection scheduled before we leave.

Perform
04.

Perform

PTO from your utility, ITC and rebate paperwork filed, and 25 years of local service after the system goes live.

Your incentive stack

Federal, state, and utility

On a typical $30K install in Connecticut, the total incentive stack lands between $13,000 and $17,000. We file every form with you.

Federal ITC

30%

Tax credit, claimed in the year of install. Locked through 2032.

CT ESS battery rebate

Up to $7,500

One-time check from CT Green Bank, paid through your installer.

Net metering

Full retail

1:1 offset on what your panels send back to Eversource or UI.

CT property tax exemption

$300 – $700/yr

System value excluded from your assessment. Sales tax also exempt.

What customers say

Trusted by homeowners
who value quality.

“Teamsun was the only crew that walked the roof, named the panel brand, and answered every question without checking with someone. Same lead tech came back a year later when I added a battery.”
Robert P. Homeowner · Glastonbury, CT
“Three of my neighbors had Teamsun, so I called them. The crew was on my street five days after I signed.”
David L. Homeowner · West Hartford, CT
“They knew the historic district secretary by first name. Saved us six weeks on permitting alone.”
The Hwang family Homeowners · Glastonbury, CT
“Same lead tech who installed it came back four years later to swap an inverter under warranty. No charge, no excuses.”

Bundle FAQ

Questions homeowners ask about bundling.

My roof is 14 years old. Should I bundle?

Probably yes. If your roof has fewer than 12 years of life left when you install solar, you will be paying for panel removal and reinstall later — typically $4,000 – $8,000 — in addition to the roof itself. Bundling is cheaper over the project lifecycle.

Does Teamsun do the roof itself, or hire a roofer?

Teamsun is the general contractor for the whole project. The roof crew is on our payroll for the residential bundles in CT, MA, and RI. For unusual roof materials (slate, tile, metal), we coordinate with a vetted roofing partner — but Teamsun owns the warranty handoff.

Will the federal ITC apply to the roof?

Not in most cases. The federal ITC applies to solar costs and labor, plus narrow exceptions for solar-shingle hybrid products that integrate panels into the roof itself. Standard asphalt shingles do not qualify. Speak with your CPA — we provide a clean cost breakout for tax filing.

What roof materials do you work with?

Asphalt shingle is standard. We also install on standing-seam metal and over EPDM/TPO commercial flat roofs. Slate and tile roofs are evaluated case-by-case — sometimes the right answer is to leave them alone and skip solar.

What if I already have solar and need a new roof?

We safely remove the panels, hand the roof crew clear access, complete the roof replacement, then reinstall the panels and recommission the system. Most jobs run 3 – 6 weeks total with 4 – 8 days of disruption.

How long is the bundled timeline?

5 – 10 weeks from signed contract to a working solar system. Engineering and permits take 3 – 6 weeks; on-roof work runs 4 – 8 days; PTO from your utility takes another 1 – 3 weeks at the end.

Is the bundled price cheaper than separate vendors?

Sometimes. The savings are larger and more predictable on lifetime cost than on sticker price. Bundling avoids the $4,000 – $8,000 panel removal/reinstall when your roof fails, plus the warranty fight when separate vendors disagree about who caused a leak.

What warranty covers the bundled project?

Roof shingles carry their manufacturer warranty (typically 25 – 50 years). Solar panels carry their 25-year warranty. Inverters and batteries carry their 10 – 25 year warranties. Teamsun adds a 10-year workmanship warranty across the whole stack.

Can you bundle on a commercial roof?

Yes — we bundle EPDM/TPO flat-roof replacement with commercial PV regularly. Engineering is more involved, timelines stretch to 8 – 16 weeks, but the same single-contractor logic applies.
